Bible Saturday 4/4: Lazarus, Come Forth

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 81:1-16. Verses 7-10, what past experiences of God’s care for me and my family can I draw on to strengthen my faith amidst this pandemic?

Lamentations 2:1-22. Verse 10, what supposed experts and authorities have lost face during the emergency? How can God help us build something better out of the ruins? My church’s role? My role?

John 11:1-44. Verses 14-17, why did Jesus wait before going to the aid of Lazarus? What is the hardest thing about waiting under the stay-home order? What’s my spiritual reliance as the weeks drag on?

John 11:45-12:11. Verses 49-51 and 9-11, why is the worldly mind so bent on getting rid of both Jesus and his witnesses? In Holy Week as all nations are fixated on death, what’s the kingdom opportunity for Christians?
