Bible Monday 5/4: Look in the Mirror

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 7:1-17. Verse 6, God’s anger. What makes God angry right now as he sees humankind struggling with disease, dissension, and lack? What are the elements of a just and merciful outcome I should pray for?

Ezekiel 24:1-27. Verses 15-24, Ezekiel forbidden to mourn his wife’s death. Amid this pandemic, what is it costing me to serve God faithfully? Am I resisting self-pity? What cost for serving him would be too high?

I Corinthians 11:27-34. Related question, worthiness to partake the body and blood of our Lord. What can I specifically do for Jesus today that honors, a little better than yesterday, the sacrifice he made for me?

John 6:28-40. Verse 35, in receiving Jesus as the bread of life, how am I better able to face the Covid crisis in terms of protection, provision, and love of neighbor?
