Bible Sunday 7/5: Sheep and Shepherd

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 16:1-11. Verse 4, what false gods right now are tempting our country, including my church, my family, and me? What words and acts of devotion are being made toward these idols? Action point?

II Samuel 3:1-39. Verses 26-28, Joab’s revenge on Abner. What is my church doing to help break the cycle of bitterness, revenge, and violence now gripping America? My role?

Acts 10:34-48. Verses 36, 38, and 43, how do the peace Jesus offers, his defeat of oppression, and his remission of sins speak to our country’s present needs, both individual and collective?

Mark 6:30-44. Verse 34, what can I expect from Jesus today as my shepherd, and what does he expect of me as his sheep?
