Bible Thursday 7/2: Possessed

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 2:1-12. Verses 2 and 9, what are the seen and unseen dimensions right now in this titanic collision of earthly powers vs. heavenly powers? What is my church’s role? My role?

I Samuel 31:1-13. Dishonor and then honor for the body of a fallen king. Verses 12 and 13, does such reverence for the dead reflect a cultural custom or an unchanging command of God?

Acts 10:1-8. Who might be as far out of the normal orbit of my faith today as this Roman officer was outside the orbit of Peter’s faith? What’s the lesson for me about God’s bigger plan and my duty within it?

Mark 5:1-20. Related question, what individual or group right now is as abhorrent to me as this man Legion was to his neighbors? What do the eyes of Jesus, the mind of Jesus, see in them that I can’t? Prayer point?
