Bible Thursday 1/7: Distress Call

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 18:1-50. Verses 16-19, God delivering us from disasters, dangers, and enemies. What changes shall I pray for him to bring about today in thousands of angry or frightened hearts as America is in crisis?

Genesis 7:1-24. If the ark Noah built symbolizes rescue, refuge, and renewal for God’s faithful ones in a terrifying time, what “ark” will now shelter my family and fellow believers as we prepare to start over?

Luke 17:20-27. What attitudes and actions are required for me to be in a state of kingdom readiness as Jesus demands here?

Matthew 3:13-17. Father, Son, and Spirit are glimpsed at Jesus’ baptism. How shall I pray for the triune God to help me be a better disciple and better citizen today than I was yesterday?
