Bible Sunday 5/2: Hospital for Sinners

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 149:1-9. Verse 8 KJV, how would God have us go about this, to bind and subdue the country’s political leaders? What would it look like in practice? My role?

Exodus 21:1-36. By what authority do Christians consider this criminal code largely invalid and yet consider the Decalogue in chapter 20 as God’s inviolable and perpetual command to us? Can the Bible mislead us?

I Corinthians 6:1-11. Verses 9-11, does my church function more as a hospital for sinners or a sanctuary for the righteous? How transparent does God want us to be with each other?

John 7:1-9. Verse 7, does Jesus want me to experience more fully the world’s hatred of him? What would that look like for me? First step today?
