Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 80:1-19. Verses 3, 7, 19, when God’s face shines. How can I sense or see that shining, how can I experience it? What does it offer me? What does it ask of me?
Hosea 6:1-11. Verse 6, today how can I glorify God less with going through the motions and more with active goodness? Why did Jesus find this verse important enough to quote twice (Matthew 9:3 & 12:7)?
Acts 24:22-25:12. Verse 3, the Jews’ third murder plot against Paul. Why were they so desperate to have him silenced? How do we see that desperation acting all around us at present? Prayer point?
Mark 13:14-23. Verse 22, seduction by false Christs. What’s a contemporary example, potentially seductive even to me if I’m not alert?
