Bible Sunday 8/8: Death Defeated

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 92:1-15. Verses 12-14, from the analogy of seeing myself as a tree “planted” in God, what can I expect from him? What does he expect from me?

Hosea 13:1-16. Verse 14, how can I enter into God’s promise to redeem his beloved from death and the grave? How does that impact my experience starting today?

II Peter 2:12-22. Verse 19, how do we see, in today’s world, the false offer of liberty leading people into corruption and bondage? What is my church doing about it? My role?

Mark 14:43-52. Verse 49, why are Jesus’ betrayal and death more efficacious to save me because they fulfill Old Testament prophecies? How does that make today different?
