Bible Tuesday 8/24: Fight Injustice

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 130:1-8. Verses 3 and 4, for what do I specifically need God’s forgiveness today? Who or what do I need to forgive today, with God’s help?

Joshua 15:1-63. God’s map of the lands allotted to Judah, later to become the royal tribe of David and then of Jesus. Can’t I be confident our all-governing God has my life mapped out in equal detail and beneficence?

Amos 5:16-27. Verse 24, a favorite of Dr. King’s in leading the civil rights movement. Amid all the injustices of our world, what is and is not my church’s role? And my role within that?

Luke 4:31-44. Verses 34 and 41, why did Satan’s demons recognize Jesus’ identity better than most of the people he came to save? Where am I vulnerable to spiritual warfare today, and what’s my protection?
