Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 106:1-48. Israel’s repetitive pattern of rebellion and repentance. Have I at times gone in circles, my self-will resisting God over and over? What broke me out of that and moved me ahead for good?
Joshua 4:1-24. Memorial stones placed where the Jordan was parted. What’s one or more unforgettable proofs of God’s care for me that I can fix upon when faith falters?
Acts 27:30-44. Verse 31, Paul saves his shipmates’ lives. Verse 43, the centurion saves Paul’s life. What opportunity can I find today, for the glory of God, to notably bless someone?
Mark 15:42-47. Burial of Jesus. When have I felt as if all my life’s hopes and happiness were dead and buried, past recovering? How did God show up? Application for today?
