Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 37:1-40. Verse 4, this may mean God will grant my heart’s desires, or that he will place better and holier desires in my heart. If the latter, what unworthy desires shall I pray him to replace with worthier ones?
Ezekiel 31:1-18. God decrees that Pharaoh’s pride will be brought low. Where do pride and self-love subtly assert themselves in my daily walk? What’s the consequence? What is God’s remedy?
I Corinthians 12:20-31. Who in my church might fit Paul’s description of the body’s more feeble, less comely members of the body? How can I have Christian fellowship with that person one day soon?
John 7:40-53. Do I know someone inching toward the gospel, as Nicodemus is portrayed here? How can I help that person along the way toward a decisive encounter with Jesus crucified and risen?
