Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 32:1-11. Verse 5, in my daily walk with God, how important is confession of sin? What’s uppermost for me to confess to him today?
II Samuel 7:1-29. Verse 11, God tells David: Let me first build for you. How does this match my life experience, this grace of God taking the initiative and meeting me far more than halfway?
Acts 12:20-25. The self-glorifying King Herod drops dead. How does the danger of making an idol of political goals and political figures get at me and my church?
Mark 7:14-23. Verses 21 and 22, have any of these sins subtly gained a foothold in my heart and mind? Action point for today?
