Bible Friday 9/2: Peter Signs Up

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 6:1-10. Verses 6 and 7, what’s the heaviest sorrow I am carrying right now? What would it look like for God to lift that off me, starting today? Prayer point?

II Kings 11:1-21. The boy Joash, Judah’s true king, raised in secret, is crowned when Athalia, the murderous false queen, is dethroned and killed. As God’s secret plan for us ripens, how shall I prepare myself?

Job 5:17-27. Verse 17, when have I experienced God’s severe but wholesome chastening and correction? Present application?

Luke 5:1-11. Verse 10, what attitudes and actions must I undertake, so that Jesus can put me to work fishing for souls?
