Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 17:1-15. Verse 8 KJV, in that God cherishes me as the apple of his eye, what can I expect from him today? What does he expect from me in return?
II Kings 14:1-29. Verses 5 and 6, King Amaziah, in avenging his father’s murder, rejects collective guilt or racial taint. Is my church clear that this is the way God’s justice works?
Job 7:1-21. Crushed and desiring to die, Job asks God, “Why?” What have I learned in my darkest hour? Present application?
Luke 5:27-32. If Jesus came to my city today, what kinds of disreputable people might he consort with? What excuse might I make to keep from having to be there myself?
