Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 68:1-35. Verse 6, who feels lonely and isolated today, that I could approach in God’s name with a sense of family or community?
Job 26:1-14. Verses 6 and 11, God’s sovereignty over the pillars of heaven and the nakedness of hell. What benefit might there be for me in realizing, like Job, all that I don’t know about the Creator and his creation?
II Corinthians 8:8-24. Verse 9, what are some of the ways I am richer today as a result of Jesus impoverishing himself in life and death?
Luke 9:1-9. Verse 3, related, what are some of the ways I can begin to impoverish myself, or divest myself, in order to be more fully dependent on Jesus and more winsome as his witness?
