Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 49:;1-20. Verses 12 and 15, what are some marks of worldly honor that God wants me to disregard? What are some marks of godliness that he wants me to seek after and glory in?
Job 19:1-29. Verse 25, what are some specific distresses and struggles I’m sure of conquering, in that Jesus Christ is my redeemer, that he’s alive, and that he is returning?
II Corinthians 1:15-2:11. Verses 18-20, related question, how does this become a better day when I realize we have a God of yes-period, not a God of yes-and-no, maybe, sometimes?
Luke 7:24-35. Verses 31 and 32, related again, how do the childish mood swings and emotionalism that Jesus warns against, sometimes operate on me? What is God’s antidote for this?
