Bible Tuesday 11/14: King of Kings

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 37:1-40. Verse 11, this identical promise to the meek is given by Jesus in the Beatitudes. Moses is said to have excelled in meekness. How shall I carry myself more meekly today than I did yesterday?

II Chronicles 22:1-12. Horror in the palace: murder, stealth, intrigue. How does the ancient lie that might makes right continue asserting itself today in our nation and among the nations?

Revelation 1:1-20. Verse 6, related to the above, if the risen Jesus has appointed me and other Christians as kings and priests to serve him, what does that look like in everyday practical terms as we “do life”?

Luke 22:14-23. Does my church—and do I personally—take the Eucharist, Holy Communion, as seriously as Jesus wants us to? Action point?
