Bible Tuesday 10/14: The Prodigal Comes Home

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 108:1-13. Verse 13, in promising that I shall do valiantly today, what thoughts and actions is God making possible for me? What is he ruling out?

I Chronicles 20:1-8. David and his men dispose of other giants from the family of Goliath. What fearsome adversary has God helped me defeat in the past, on which I can base my confidence for coming battles?

Ephesians 5:1-14. Verses 8-11, what would it look like today for me to walk as one of the children of light—helped by Jesus—and shun all the works of darkness?

Luke 15:11-32. When have I behaved with the recklessness of the younger son or the self-righteousness of the elder son? How did God show up in both cases? Application to present needs?
