Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 15:1-5. Verse 2, is it asking too much to vow that I will honor God today in how I walk, how I work, how I think and speak?
II Chronicles 9:1-31. Verse 23, Solomon’s wisdom, endowed on him by God, attracts all the kings of the earth. Is my aspiration to prestige and influence based on earthly things or on heavenly things?
Revelation 7:1-17. Verses 14 and 17, have I come through tribulation and been washed in the blood of the Lamb? Can I therefore expect the Lamb to feed me, lead me, and care for me today?
Matthew 5:1-12. Verse 6, when Jesus speaks of hungering and thirsting for righteousness, what is he asking of me? What reward is he offering me?
