Bible Sunday 10/26: Have Mercy on Me

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 142:1-7. Verse 2, poured out my complaint before him. God invites me to do this; what am I waiting for?

II Chronicles 3:1-17. Temple construction underway with meticulous detail and lavish beauty. Will God accept anything less in the work he gives me to do this day? Don’t I often act as if “just average” was good enough for him?

Philippians 4:2-23. Verses 6-8, how did my thoughts, words, and actions yesterday fall short of this standard? How can I do better today?

Luke 18:35-43. A blind man urgently appeals to Jesus and is healed. What situation have I been praying about which needs that extra measure of urgency today?
