Bible Sunday 11/16: Peter Crumbles

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 42:1-11. Why, when, where: God invites me to press him with my urgent, painful questions—and trust him for answers. Today is the day, then. What am I waiting for?

I Chronicles 24:1-27. The young king Joash begins well, but then forsakes God. What are the subtle forces tempting me to lose the plot and backslide today? How can I obtain strength from God to resist them?

Revelation 4:1-11. By what thoughts, actions, prayers and practices can I fit myself for a glimpse of God’s throne room today? How will that make a difference in my daily life here and now?

Luke 22:54-71. In the same few hours, Peter denies Jesus but Jesus refuses to deny his Father. Which example shall I follow as tiny but fateful choices confront me today?
