Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 16:1-11. How can I be more closely attentive to God all day today? What distractions do I need to set aside? What reminders can I give myself hour by hour?
Exodus 18:1-27. Jethro’s wise counsel helps Moses become a better leader. When have I tried to substitute good intentions for high standards? How did God show up? Application to present needs?
I Corinthians 11:27-34. Related, how are my church as a whole, and myself as one member, at risk of not keeping the main thing the main thing? What are we tempted to place ahead of Christ’s body and blood?
John 6:52-59. Related again, the more I learn to eat and drink daily of Jesus, God incarnate, how will others notice something different about me? How will I become the carrier of a good contagion, life eternal?
