Bible Sunday 5/18: Into Battle

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 44:1-26. Verse 21, God knows our secrets. How does this narrow my comfort zone today? What opportunity does it offer me, if I’m man enough to seize it?

Exodus 29:1-46. God outlines to Moses and Aaron the sacrificial system he requires of the Israelites. Why is a sacrificial approach to my relationship with him still important today?

I Corinthians 14:1-9. Verse 8, the spiritual trumpet summoning Christians to spiritual battle. Unpacking the symbolism here, what is Jesus expecting of me in the here and now?

John 8:21-36. Verses 31 and 32, what will it look like today for me to continue in Jesus’ word? What specific truth will I then know? What will the resulting freedom enable me to be and do?
