Bible Thursday 5/22: Face to Face

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 55:1-23. Verse 22, what burden weighs heavily upon me today, that God is inviting me to cast on him instead?

Exodus 33:1-23. What did it cost Moses to stand in the gap between the Israelites and God? How much will it cost me to take the next step into a life of more fully loving God and my neighbor?

I Corinthians 16:1-12. Verse 9, related, Paul sees both an open door for him to proclaim Jesus more widely, and many adversaries to confront. How do those two factors feature in my kingdom work at present?

John 9:13-23. Parents of the blind man whom Jesus healed, shrink back in fear of the Jewish leaders. How much risk am I prepared to take today for the gospel of Christ?
