Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 119:89-128. Verse 89, God’s word is settled forever. With this assurance from my Maker, how can I face the ups and downs of this day with anything less than calm, grateful trust?
Joshua 10:1-43. Joshua’s unbroken string of military victories, helped by God and even the sun and moon. What victories has God given me in the past year? What victories am I hoping for in months to come?
Acts 26:12-23. Paul tells the king how Jesus turned him from a persecutor of the gospel to a witness of it. What witness of Christ am I in a position to give right now? Who needs to hear it? What am I waiting for?
Mark 13:3-13. Verse 11, Jesus promises that his Holy Spirit will give me the words to say when I witness. With this removal of my excuses—”not ready, what if I fail”—again the only question is what’s stopping me?
