Bible Tuesday 8/19: Is My God Too Small?

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 119:49-88. Verses 67, 71, 75, how has affliction brought me closer to God and deepened my faith?

Joshua 9:1-27. Verses 14-16, Joshua and the Israelites, judging rashly and failing to seek God’s counsel, are swindled by the Gibeonites. When have I erred badly by neglecting to pray over a decision?

Acts 26:1-11. Verse 8, Paul warns the king his God is too small. Am I making the same mistake in assuming God cannot or will not meet a particular need I’m currently wrestling with?

Mark 12:35-13:2. Jesus praises the selfless generosity of a poor widow. How shall I follow her example today?
