Bible Monday 8/18: To Gain Liberty

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 119:1-48. Verse 45, how does the truest liberty result from seeking God’s precepts?

Joshua 8:1-35. Joshua again does battle with Ai, this time victoriously. When has God given me a second chance, after I failed him the first time? Application to present needs?

Acts 25:13-27. Paul is given yet another hearing before the civil authorities. What may have been the substance of his prayers during this long tense period?

Mark 12:28-34. What particular opportunity can I find today to love my neighbor as myself? Can I do this on my own effort, or will I need God’s help?
