Bible Friday 8/29: Red Letter

Studying this morning's readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 145:1-21. Verse 4, fidelity to God across the generations. How can I do more to foster this—in my own family and in my church?

II Corinthians 2:12-3:3. Verse 3, the individual believer as a “letter” about how Jesus changes hearts. Who is the best disciple-maker I know? How can I be more like that person today?

Mark 6:14-29. What voice, of an individual or an institution—if any—upholds moral righteousness in the public square these days? How does the relativizing of all standards tend to erode my own moral courage?
