Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 52:1-9. When hurtful or deceitful words are directed against me, my family, my church, my country, how can I find safety and peace in God?
Judges 17:1-13. Verse 6, leaderless after Samson’s death, the Israelites abandon the old ways of right and wrong. How far gone on this road to ruin is America today? What is my church doing about it?
James 2:1-13. Related, has my church in subtle ways caved in to materialistic notions of worth, success, and importance? As a congregation, how can we love our neighbor better?
Luke 6:37-49. Related again, with storm warnings heard in the land, how can we be more sure of building on the rock of Jesus’ words and not on the sand of worldly delusions?
