Bible Thursday 9/25: Maybe Even Today

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 69:1-36. Verse 29, poor and sorrowful. God having given us permission, through King David, to bluntly complain, what lament shall I bring to his throne this day?

I Chronicles 1:1-54. We have a personal God who knows us personally by name across the thousands of years. What do I want the divine record to say about me a dozen centuries from now? Action point for today?

James 5:1-12. Related… on the other hand, Jesus’ return might be any day now. If he comes back today, what do I want him to find me doing?

Luke 8:1-3. In plain everyday language, not “religion speak,” what are the glad tidings of the kingdom of God that Jesus wants me to share with everyone I can? Who in particular needs to hear them from me today?
