Bible Saturday 10/4: Voice from the Cloud

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 86:1-17. Verses 2, 4, 16, what would it look like for me to go through this day in constant awareness that I am God’s servant, existing for that alone?

I Chronicles 10:1-14. King Saul dies in battle and is succeeded by David. Today in praying for our country’s political leaders, what specifically am I asking God to do for them and through them?

Galatians 5:16-26. Verses 22 and 23, looking back a few years, how has Jesus helped me bring forth more of the fruits of the Spirit? Looking to the rest of this year, how shall I aim to express even more of them?

Luke 9:28-36. Peter, James, and John sleepily miss part of Jesus’ transfiguration on the mountaintop. What shall I do to remain wide awake, not spiritually drowsy, amidst the struggles and glories of this day?
