Bible Sunday 10/5: World Aflame

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 89:1-52. Verse 13, what exactly will it look like today for me to receive the protection of God’s arm and the aid of God’s hand?

I Chronicles 11:1-47. Honor roll of David’s best fighters in the early days of his kingship. If I’m called into combat for King Jesus today, what will that warfare involve?

Galatians 6:1-18. Verses 2 and 5, what is my own burden that Jesus is asking me to bear today? Who else has a burden that I can also help bear, thus fulfilling the law of Christ?

Luke 12:49-59. Is the fire that Jesus brought into the world still burning in me, my family, my church—or gradually going out? Am I responsive to the division he demands? Am I reading the signs of the times?
