Bible Saturday 12/17: How Beautiful on the Mountains

Psalm 55:1-23. How can I weave prayer more frequently into the hours of this day (verse 13)? What burdens me right now that I can let God carry instead verse 22)?

Isaiah 52:1-15. In prosaic everyday terms, what can Messiah's coming to us with "feet beautiful on the mountains" mean or look like (verse 7)? What practical form do I need his good tidings to take for me and my family this Christmas?

Revelation 18:1-20. Without going to extremes, how shall I take the long itemized "loss report" of Babylon's fall (verses 11-17) as a Christian corrective to the materialism of our modern world?

Matthew 24:15-31. Do the instant readiness and obedience Jesus commands in verses 16-20 apply only one impending crisis, or in spiritual terms to all of us always? If the latter, how compliant am I?

These are some of the questions I asked myself in studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide. Click and see what you think.  Where is your self-examination leading today?
