Bible Thursday 8/2: Whom I Serve

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 71:1-24. Verse 9, why does getting older come with anxiety and the fear of losing touch with God? How can I resist, refute, and replace this today?

I Kings 20:1-43. God helps wicked Ahab defeat the Syrians. When has he shown our country favor in spite of flawed leaders, or rescued me from troubles of my own making?

Acts 27:13-44. Verse 23 KJV, "God, whose I am and whom I serve." In my activities this week, not having spoken this, how much would others have sensed it is my identity and life-purpose?

Mark 8:22-26. Why did Jesus, full of God's omnipotence, have to heal this man in stages? Application to my present needs?
