Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 91:1-16. Verses 9-12, what do I want God to have his angels do for me today? How will I know they are here? What’s expected of me in all this?
Habakkuk 1:1-17. Verses 2 and 3, 12 and 13, if I could come before the throne today and ask, “God, how could you? God, why don’t you?”—what answer would I be looking for? What answer does the Cross of Christ suggest?
Luke 20:9-19. Verse 18, why are we warned that Jesus is a stone that breaks things, me included? Wouldn’t I want to avoid that at all costs?
Matthew 26:1-16. Verse 14, how does the Judas impulse, shopping around for a better deal than what Jesus offers, worm its way into my motives and desires? How can I resist that and root it out?
