Spurgeon: Search the Scriptures, find treasure

Charles Spurgeon, known as the Prince of Preachers in 1880s London, mines the treasures of the Bible in his devotional collection Morning and Evening with insights on over 700 verses. I often turn to it when I want to go deeper on how a passage applies to my day, my life.

In this video message, part of our church’s daily series during the Covid shutdown, I give the example of Spurgeon’s reading of three simple words from Hebrews 13:5, a passage most of us probably overlook, “He has said.”

Our three-person God, Father, Son, and Spirit, is bigger than any pandemic, nearer than any virus. The clinching finality of his promises to us has never been better stated than right here in Hebrews. Here’s my take on it.
