Bible Sunday 4/25: Deliverance

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 130:1-8. Verses 5-7, what am I waiting for God to do right now? Why does he require me to wait? When has he previously rewarded my waiting?

Exodus 14:1-31. Verses 30 and 31, what’s the best proof of God’s care that he has ever given me? Am I inconsistent in remembering it? How does it encourage me in things I’m facing at present?

I Corinthians 3:11-23. Verses 18-20, what’s currently in the news, passing for wisdom, that God sees as foolishness? As a Christian, what steps can I take to depend less on the news and more on the Word?

John 6:15-21. With evil flooding our world and God’s people threatened, what lesson can I take from Moses’ mastery of the Red Sea and Jesus’ mastery of the Galilean Sea?
