Bible Saturday 10/11: Lame Excuses

Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?

Psalms 105:1-45. Verses 14 and 15, touch not my anointed. What evils and enemies, material and spiritual, is God here commanding not to lay a hand on me and my loved ones?

I Chronicles 17:1-27. God promises to build up David’s house (royal line) so that they in turn can build God’s house (holy temple). When has God brought me up short with his divine plans superseding my human plans?

Ephesians 3:8-21. Verses 14-19, what person or family stands in pressing need right now, for whom I can send up this powerful prayer word for word?

Luke 14:15-24. Verses 16-20, what excuses have I been making to God of late? What prompt and complete act of obedience shall I make to him today instead?
