Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 66:1-20. Verses 19 and 20, what prayer have I gone on and on with and seen no result, so that it has been wearing me out, exhausting my patience? How can I find the spiritual stamina to keep up that prayer?
Numbers 33:1-56. Moses gives the Israelites God’s stern command to utterly purge the Promised Land of idolatry. What God-ordained task have I left unfinished? What am I waiting for?
Acts 18:1-17. Jesus comes to Paul in a night vision, reassuring him of ultimate success in his stormy ministry. What reassurance have I been needing from the Lord of late?
Mark 8:1-10. Jesus multiplies a few loaves and fishes to feed a crowd of 4000, not long after he did the same for 5000—and still the disciples are slow to catch on (verse 4). What have I been slow to learn—even this minute?
