Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 9:1-20. Verse 8, what actions and attitudes does God expect from me if I really care about righteousness or uprightness? Why does the church nowadays teach so little about these?
Joshua 24:1-33. Verse 19, you cannot serve the Lord, Joshua sternly warns the Israelites. What person has helped teach me the demands of walking with God? How can I pay it forward?
Luke 3:1-22. John the Baptist prophesies of the Messiah bringing fire. Verses 9 and 17, how has that fire burned away what was unfruitful in me? Verse 16, how has the fire of the Holy Spirit baptized me?
Matthew 17:1-13. What qualities did God imbue in Peter, James, and John that equipped them to witness his transfiguration? By what signs would I be able to realize the growth of those qualities in me?
