Studying this morning's four readings from the St. James Daily Devotional Guide (click to subscribe), I examined myself with these questions. Where is your self-examination leading today?
Psalms 37:1-40. Verse 7, what is making me weary or troubled or restless today? How would all that change if I set myself to rest in the Lord every moment of the day, no matter how demanding things get?
Judges 11:1-40. Jephtha’s rash vow costs the life of his beloved daughter, his only child. And she meekly submits! What is the hardest thing I’ve ever done for God? Is something even harder soon to come?
Philippians 2:1-11. What has the cross of Jesus Christ meant to me in my lifetime so far? Who needs to hear about this from me today?
John 3:11-17. Verses 16 and 17, as I go along in everyday life, professing to follow Jesus, do people more often associate me with a God who loves the world or a God who condemns the world? What’s my aroma?
